This Odd Creature Was Saved From Under A Bed, But What Was It?

Large Feline

After the veterinarians took a closer look, it was immediately apparent that this was, in fact, a cat! There was so much fur on this cat that nobody could tell what it was at first, and its terror caused it to curl up. Finally, after much back-and-forth, they agreed on something. The beast would have to be sedated with an anesthetic. That was the wisest course of action.

Frightened

The fittingly called, Hidey, named for its exceptional concealing talents, had been utterly forgotten about and stuck inside pounds of its own matted fur. Its aged owner assumed it had run away a very long time ago. “Hidey was incredibly overweight, so that makes it tougher for [cats] to groom themselves and that’s when you get matting,” explained Caitlin Lasky, senior marketing communications manager for the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society. The next concern was what to do about Hidey’s dreadlocks.

The Barbershop

The entire veterinary staff was taken aback by Hidey’s unexpected entrance. Caitlin Lasky, the senior marketing communications manager for the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, remarked, “They hadn’t seen anything like that.” Even on the internet, I had a hard time locating anything that was remotely similar, so this is most certainly an exceptional example.
There’s really only one option for dealing with a sick or injured animal that’s in such a dire state as this one. After giving Hidey a general anesthetic, the team began the laborious task of removing his excessive hair growth.
