This Odd Creature Was Saved From Under A Bed, But What Was It?

Animal Scratches

Paul noticed that the wallpaper was in tatters due to the scratches on the walls. This was turning into a pretty grim scene.
He called softly, “Here kitty, kitty,” his heart caught in his throat. The creeping sensation of being followed had evolved into an urgent urge to flee. He knew he had to leave, but getting to Siam first meant gritting his teeth.

Scared And Alone

He went into the kitchen, where he discovered Siam’s bowl and supplemented its contents with his own provisions. He expected him to come sprinting, but he didn’t. It would be impossible to locate him in the dark if he were hidden here. Even though Paul knew he had to endure further exploration of the genuinely eerie house in order to reach the circuit breaker, the sound that followed him from behind sent shivers down his spine.

Disbelief

Paul heard a terrifying thump coming from the bathroom at the end of the hall, followed by a loud cry that rang in his head.
By the time he made it to the bathroom door, his legs were shaking so badly that they were the only thing keeping him moving. He opened the door with a soft kick of his foot and stretched out, trembling, to pull aside the shower curtain.
